This topic came about over a discussion in a political arena…The basic premise is; Should we be deciding on OR condemning and judging any elected official over their religious views or following?
Initial Statement:
This is the land of the free not the republic of Christianity. All men are created equal and all men’s rights and freedoms are the same and ANYONE who does not follow this simple axiom in allowing ALL others their own paths, rights, freedoms and religions should not be allowed to imply that they are a patriot or support and love The United States. Even the name of the Country implies inclusion. It is The UNITED States of America, not the individual divided states of America. This country was founded on the premise of freedom, not condemning anyone who is not Christian. The whole purpose was to have freedom from the persecution of religious choice and now you spit on the very vision that made this country so great.
Christians don’t even live like Christians should, so when, how or why did they become the deciding authority? How dare you say everyone MUST choose YOUR way of life and thought or they are not worthy of life and must be talked about or treated like shit. God himself gave us freewill, so please tell me how you even try to usurp God’s own authority????? How do you decide YOU have the right to tell someone else they are wrong for not thinking like you???? So much time is spent on judging and condemning there is no time nor concern for actually looking out for the best interest of US (The acronym for our country asserts unity for all…. THE U.S.)
… Live your lives, take care of your family and friends and be kind to yourselves and the ones you don’t know. If you continue to spew rumors, falsehoods, ignorance and hatred you are equal to the ones you judge so harshly. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
NO ONE can cry about separation of church and state when it is the “church” that seems to be the deciding factor of whether or not you can hold office in this land of the “free”.
Comment:
Only after years of the government doing their best to remove God out of everything first! I say “BRAVO” to the church’s for finally stepping up and trying to put this country back on the straight and narrow path! True separation will come though,…….it’s called the “RAPTURE”{:{)
Rebuttal to Comment:
I can certainly agree that since “God” has been almost forbidden in public the importance, thoughtfulness and systematic delivery of values have become an endangered species but, I must voice my concern…It would be fine to include religion or spirituality or what ever you choose to call your dogma if there were only one belief. The issue arises because there are so many franchises within Christianity that you couldn’t possibly have someone running this country that judged every situation by ANY religions theistic views.
If you want religion to rule then apply it to your own lives, then get back to me. Which sect would you propose should be sitting in the Presidential chair? Is it a Catholic with Popes consent? Should they be Baptist? Maybe Protestant or maybe Jehovah’s Witness’s or even a Mormon? One of the problems with religion being injected into the rights, privileges and laws that govern The U.S. is that not even Christians agree on which doctrine is the ruling doctrine. You even have disdain within the community itself, as to which interpretation is the “right” one …So you just end up asking for things to move from civil disagreement all the way to religiously convicted civil wars….
It seems to me the ONLY thing that has changed since God has been less and less visible in the public is Christians themselves. People who don’t believe in God or question or just don’t follow Christian doctrine have not changed one bit. Families that use to make church a priority are the ones that now evade the duties of proper instruction. The Atheists and Agnostics didn’t believe before the methodic removal, so I would say it is an issue within “the church” more than it is within the world. It is the religious themselves that have allowed slack within their own homes that have caused the division and disrespect of one another and the perceived fall of Babylon. Just because the ten commandments are no longer hung on the wall in the town square doesn’t mean you can’t walk the talk. The public expulsion has just been used as an excuse for the ones that once followed a specific moral code to whine and complain.
I would just like to reiterate the First Amendment of the United States Constitution….”Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”…Surely no one questions the validity or massive importance of the Constitution..Or should we amend it to say Congress shall ,make no law WITHOUT religion?
Phewwww, now im outta breath!! lol
“As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion” ~ George Washington ( 1st United States President)
